Why Are Domestic Pathology Equipment Manufacturers Always "Invisible" in Industry Reports?

For people working in the pathology industry, staying on top of industry trends and peer developments is extremely important. Getting your judgment right can help your company develop better within the industry; getting it wrong can lead to flawed decisions that may cause significant losses to the company.

I am also someone who has spent 20 years in the medical industry, having worked across vaccine R&D, traditional Chinese medicine production, clinical research, and pathology equipment. Today I'd like to offer a brief analysis of the 2026-2031 China Pathology Diagnosis Industry Market Prospects and Investment Strategy Planning Analysis Report, published by the Qianzhan Industry Research Institute.

In this report, China's pathology diagnosis industry is divided into two main tiers. The first tier consists of foreign-invested enterprises, including Roche, Leica, Sakura, Thermo Fisher, and others — the report considers this tier to dominate the high-end instrument and reagent market in China's pathology diagnosis field. The second tier consists of domestic enterprises, including Maixin Biotech, ACT Genomics (AmoyDx), and Anbiping. I won't spend much time analyzing the first tier here — what we need now is domestic advancement, so I'm more focused on domestic companies.

Let's do a preliminary analysis of the domestic companies mentioned in this report, based mainly on the content of their official websites, to give people working in the pathology industry a simple introductory overview.

1.Maixin Biotech: Primarily sells antibodies and reagents, and fully automated immunohistochemistry staining systems.

8.Gene Technology: Primarily sells reagents and consumables.

After analyzing these companies, I found that although this report is titled around "pathology diagnosis," it actually focuses much more on reagents/consumables and third-party testing services, with very few companies related to pathology equipment. While a lot of imported pathology equipment is currently used domestically, there are also many domestic equipment manufacturers — and we ourselves are one of them. In an analysis of the pathology diagnosis industry, equipment should really be a major category, because the sums of money involved are large. Through my years working in this industry, I know that the number of domestic devices currently in use should not be underestimated, and the monetary value involved is quite substantial. I hope future industry reports will pay more attention to domestic manufacturers, so that the data can better reflect reality and better showcase the growth and strength of China's manufacturing industry.
